Cast List | NARRATORS #1 and #2- The narrators are a crucial part of the musical. Reading in a poetic style, they set the scene at the beginning of the musical and advance the plot throughout. An alternative to memorizing their many lines would be to have them read from a storybook (prop). Narrators do not sing except in the finale ensemble. DEWEY- Dewey is a happy-go-lucky and social dragonfly. He/she keeps the stranded insects informed about daily events in other parts of the lake. This character has quite a few lines, but only sings in the finale ensemble. EENIE, MEENIE, MINIE, and MOE (fleas)- Eenie, Meenie and Minie are adult fleas who love to jump and are quite good at it. Moe is a young flea who is constantly working to improve his own jumping skills. All fleas have speaking lines and songs. Moe also sings a few solo lines. HURRY, SCURRY, SCAMPER, and TINY (ants)- Hurry, Scurry, and Scamper are adult ants who are serious about digging. Tiny is a young and curious ant with a big heart and good intentions. As a child, Tiny still prefers play to work. All ants have speaking lines and songs. Tiny also sings a few solo lines. JOHN/JOHNNA, PAUL/PAULA, GEORGE/GEORGIA and MELVIN/MINERVA (beetles)- The beetles seem to enjoy living at a much slower pace than the ants. They are typical beetles, except for Melvin/Minerva, who happens to be a scientist. All beetles have speaking lines and songs. There are no solos. HOPPER, SKIPPER, JUMPER and CROAKER and Frog Chorus (frogs)- The frogs enjoy eating insects and would love to get their tongues on this bunch. Although they only have a few spoken lines, their presence is important to the story. Their main scene includes a three-part partner song, which is ideal for a larger ensemble of frogs. They also appear in scene #6 and in the finale. |
