We use this activity to ...

  • help kids introduce themselves and to raise the comfort level of the group
  • encourages kids to overcome any stage fright

Procedure:

  1. Using either a real door or an imaginary door (which you create for the players), each player must come up one by one, walk through the door to “enter” the stage and introduce themselves. Each player says “Hi, my name is _______” and says one interesting thing about themselves. You can have them add more to the speech, but try not to make it long or complicated. The point is to make this an easy task.
  2. After each introduction, the audience must enthusiastically applaud as the player stays up on stage and takes it all in. Note: Do no coaching here. The point is to let each player perform their introduction, without criticism whatsoever. The only thing you can coach them on is waiting for the applause. Don’t let them run off the stage before they take it in!
