A One-Act Musical for Young Performers
A little engine. A very big mountain. And one important delivery that just can't wait!
All aboard for a heartwarming musical adventure filled with laughter, friendship, and the power of believing in yourself!
It's the most exciting day of the year in Brightside Village! The annual Friendship Festival is about to begin, and everyone is eagerly awaiting a special delivery filled with toys, delicious food, books, and surprises. On the other side of the mountain, the Happy Train is loaded, the crew is ready, and Conductor Casey has every minute of the journey carefully planned.
What could possibly go wrong?
Well… just about everything!
When the Happy Train suddenly breaks down, the crew must find another engine willing to carry their precious cargo over the mountain. First comes a beautiful, shiny engine who refuses to risk getting dirty. Then there's a rusty old engine with a kind heart, but not enough steam to safely make the climb. Surely the biggest, most important engine on the railway can save the day! Unfortunately, he's far too busy being important to actually help anyone.
Just when all hope seems lost, along comes a little blue engine.
She's small. She's inexperienced. And she's never attempted anything quite this difficult before.
But while the other engines have plenty of excuses, this little engine has something much more powerful: the courage to try.
Featuring catchy songs, colorful characters, playful dialogue, and plenty of opportunities for young performers to shine, The Little Engine That Could: One Very Important Delivery brings the beloved message of perseverance to life in a delightful new musical adaptation.
Along the way, audiences discover that courage doesn't mean never being afraid, that asking for help is a strength, and that even the smallest among us can make an enormous difference.
With flexible casting, simple staging, and a running time of approximately 30–40 minutes, this charming musical is an excellent choice for elementary schools, children's theatre programs, and young performers.
Because sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply say, "I think I can!"
